The Best Twitter Responses To Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” Verse
Last night around 10pm EST (black) Twitter timelines looked like South Central Los Angeles in 1992. To promote his upcoming album Hall Of Fame, Big Sean released a song that will NOT be on his album initially entitled “No I.D.” and later renamed “Control” featuring Kendrick Lamar and swirlin’ spitter Jay Electronica (Word is that sample clearances kept the track from being featured on the album).
Although Big Sean probably thought this would be his moment to shine amongst his peers, the truth of the matter is that most folks went Hellen Keller to Sean’s bars once they heard Kendrick’s verse, never mind anything Jay Rothschild had to say.
Kendrick showed respect to some vets like Jay Z, Nas, Andre 3000, but to his peers, he took no prisoners and certainly didn’t bite his tongue.
Take a listen below.
It didn’t take long word to get around, and before you knew it, embarrassed rappers, exuberant writers, athletes, fans, the late shift manager at McDonald’s, cats, dogs, and unicorns were all tweeting about “the verse of the year”
Flip it on over to see how some of your favorite MCs reacted…it ain’t pretty, but it’s damn sure funny
