Since these record labels aren’t really about promoting albums anymore, we figured we’d help you figure out what to cop this week.
Flip the pages to see who’s dropping what and what it sounds like and if it’s worth your hard-earned bucks.
Eric Benet – Lost In Time
Features appearances by: Faith Evans, Eddie Levert, Chrisette Michele, Ledisi, and Eric’s daughter India.
Check out our exclusive video of Eric performing the title track “Lost In Time” by clicking here…
And another track from the album, “Always A Reason” below.
Jazmine Sullivan – Love Me Back
Jazmine chose to skip the features on her sophomore album, with the only guest being Ne-Yo on the song “You Get On My Nerves,” which you can peep here.
Jazmine also recently released a video for “10 Seconds,” which is also featured on the album.
Miguel – All I Want Is You
This new kid on the block took the airwaves by storm at the end of the summer with the single “All I Want Is You,” featuring J. Cole. Now it’s time to show and prove. And he’s also chosen to do it without any (other) assists.
Check out the album’s first track “Sure Thing”
Chrisette Michele – Let Freedom Reign
“A lot of times when society gives us benefits or they ask us to check a box, and then they give us things because of the box that we check, we feel like we’re cowards. We feel like we’re taking something that everybody else doesn’t get, and so our shot isn’t the same as everybody else’s. But I feel like if society says ‘check this box’ and they want to reward you for checking that box, when you finish taking everything that they give you and you end up on top, nobody’s going to know what box you checked. That’s what that song is about…” – Chrisette Michele
Let Freedom Reign featuring Talib Kweli & Black Thought… ‘Nuff said.
El Debarge – Second Chance
El Debarge clearly knew what he was doing when he named this album! He’s having a hell of a comeback year, which in addition to this new album – with appearances by 50 Cent and Fabolous, no less – he’s been performing all over the place! Must be nice not to be stuck in the 80s anymore.
Check out the official video for “Second Chance,” which he performed with Faith Evans at the Soul Train Awards
Ron Isley – Mr. Isley
Dropping an album fresh off a three year bid? Between this and introducing the world to his other legacy, aka his three-year-old son, Mr. Big might be doing too much. Still, we’ve GOTTA respect the O.G. And here’s why.
Slim Thug – Tha Thug Show
Maybe naming his official debut “Already Platinum” wasn’t a great idea: be honest, most of you didn’t know about a Slim Thug until he started dating “what’s her name from Destiny’s Child” and she made a comeback. Still, we fawk with Thugga. And we think this album might be the look he’s been needing.
Check out the single “So High” featuring B.o.B.
Other new albums dropping this week…
Mixtape Pick of the Week
Raheem DeVaughn – Jackin 4 Beats
Which you can download here… If for no other reason than the fact that it produced the song “Single,” which gave us this video
