Netflix shattered Twitter earlier today when they announced that they were bringing back seven iconic series for streaming:
Moesha – Aug 1
The Game S1-3 – Aug 15
Sister Sister – Sept 1
Girlfriends – Sept 11
The Parkers – Oct 1
Half & Half – Oct 15
One on One – Oct 15
That’s a slew of iconic Black shows hitting the ‘net this Fall and the internet is ecstatic. One show that everyone is excited to relive is the unforgettable Girlfriends that is celebrating its 20 year anniversary when it relaunches on September 11th.
In case you don’t remember, Girlfriends became extremely popular for revolutionizing the way black women were portrayed on TV. Also, it showed four fine a$$ black women living their lives.
Obviously, since the show ended, Tracee Ellis Ross has gone on to be a huge superstar and lead character of Black-ish. The other three women, Jill Marie Jones, Persia White and Golden Brooks are still acting and also living their best lives. Now, it looks like we’ll see them all together again on Netflix.
Want to relive how fine as hell they all are and how they’ve been doing since the show aired? Hit the flip and see for yourselves.

Tracee Ellis Ross – She played Joan, the matriarch-type character in the show. She was always in the mix with the relationships and drama, with things coming to a head when she and Toni had a major fight that resulted in the end of their friendship.
Tracee, as you know, went on to be one of TV’s biggest stars. She is the multi-Emmy nominated and Emmy winning star of Black-ish and the movie star in her own right. The good thing is she has continued to show love for her cast mates from Girlfriends.
Jill Marie Jones – Toni was Joan’s bestie from childhood and were supposed to be the tightest on the show. She was sort of stuck up but had a heart of gold. Things fell apart for her when she cheated on Greg with Dr. Spencer and then had a big fight with Joan that ended their friendship.
She would go on to be featured in films like The Perfect holiday, and Major Movie Star. She’s been in and out of different flicks but is still mostly known for her iconic role in Girlfriends.
Persia White – She played Lynn, the eccentric, hippie college roommate of Joan and Toni. She was as carefree as anyone on the show. She had a complex background, adopted by a white family in Seattle. She’d go on to a record deal and become a semi-successful musician.
Persia was just as multidimensional as her Girlfriends counterpart. She produced an award winning documentary called “Earthlings” in 2011 and won Best Performance by an Actor in the Black Film Festival for Dysfunctional Friends.
Golden Brooks – She had the biggest ego of the group and was more of the character who struggled to fit in at times as she coped with her Compton upbringing. She also had infidelity issues when her marriage to Darnell fell apart thanks to emotional impropriety.

She also would go on to plenty of minor movie roles and recurring TV roles, earning critical acclaim. She is so uber talented and raises the level of every show she is on.
