Jay Z And Beyoncé Attend The GLAAD Awards
Beyoncé’s a winner, but you already knew that. King Bey took the stage at Thursday’s 2019 GLAAD Awards at the Beverly Hilton to accept the Vanguard Award.
Both Jay and Bey were honored for being LGBT allies and Mrs. Carter took the mic and gave a moving speech that she tributed to her late Uncle Johnny, “the most fabulous gay man I have ever known,” she said.
According to Bey, Uncle Johnny helped raise both her and Solange and was fiercely himself.
“He lived his truth. He was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting. And witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I have ever lived,” said Beyonce, choking up as Jay Z put his hand on her back. “I’m hopeful that his struggle served to open pathways for other people to live more freely.”
She also added in a quirky line from “Formation” about loving who you want.
“LGBTQI rights are human rights. To choose who you love is your human right,” she added. “Who you make love to and take that a** to Red Lobster is your human right,” said Bey.
Congrats to the Carters!
Bey also watched Drag Race All-Star Shangela pay tribute to her….
