Toward the end of last week Oscar winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter kicked off a #WomenDancingTogether challenge to showcase how when women work together anything is possible. Watch her issue the challenge below:
The women she nominated to take part are some of the highest profile black women in Hollywood — and guess what — they were here for the challenge. Halle Berry, Kelly Rowland and Gabrielle Union are just a few of the women to take Ruth up on her challenge, but if this challenge has a winning prize it should probably go to Angela Bassett and Tasha Smith, who oozed glamour and fierceness alongside Sheila E. as her song plays in the background. Watch it below:
Don’t you just LOVE it? Best thing we’ve seen on the internet all week. Hands down. Hit the flip for more.
Gabrielle Union brought along baby Kaavia for her take on the challenge and used Mary J. Blige’s “Not Gon’ Cry” as the soundtrack.
June Ambrose wanted some “Respect” on her name… courtesy of Aretha Franklin.
Halle Berry chose Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” for her dancing music and nominated Kelly Rowland, Reese Witherspoon and Ciara.
Kelly took up the challenge and channeled the City Girls on their track “Act Up”
We’re still waiting for some of the nominated folks to post their videos… Hopefully this challenge continues throughout the rest of Women’s History Month.
