Former NFJer Loses Mansion After Blowing Off Foreclosure Suit
Ex-NFL star Chad Johnson has lost his $2 million dollar Florida mansion after he defaulted on his mortgage and now a judge has set a date for next month where it will be sold off
Last year, HSBC Bank USA sued the ex-NFL star, accusing him of defaulting on a $999,999 loan he took out back in 2005. They claimed he had not made a payment since July 2016.
The bank demanded the judge allow them to kick Chad out of the home and sell it off at public auction along with recouping the $759,411.98 he still owed on the loan.
Then on May 8th, the judge signed the final judgment of foreclosure in favor of the bank. The judge explained because Chad blew off the lawsuit and never responded, he ordered the ex-NFL star to pay $803,337 due on the principal and interest along with other fees for a grant total of $809,849.74 which grows with interest until paid off.
The mansion is set to be sold off at public auction on June 13th in Florida, where the highest bidder will become the new owner of Chad’s pad.
