Kodak Black Said Dollaz and Dealz Entertainment Screwed Him Over

Kodak Black has settled a breach of contract case with the Florida label that launched his career, BOSSIP has learned.

The “Skrt” rapper, born Dieuson Octave, sued Dollaz and Dealz Entertainment in December for breach of contract. He claimed the label misled him with bad contracts.

Kodak signed with Dollaz and Dealz Entertainment in 2013 but later signed another deal with them when he joined Atlantic Records in 2015. He alleged the contracts were unfair and that the label tricked him into signing without legal counsel. At the time, Kodak was only 16 years old and lacked experience.

He said Dollaz and Dealz failed to make regular payments or provide financial accounting, violating their agreement. Court documents also revealed that AC Julien, the label’s CEO, is in prison on unrelated charges. Julien’s incarceration made it impossible for him to fulfill the promised management and recording services.

Kodak argued the contracts were unenforceable because the label lacked the required talent agency license under Florida law. He wanted the court to void his contract, allow him to stop recording for Dollaz and Dealz, and award him damages.

Both parties have now resolved the case out of court. A judge dismissed it with prejudice this week, meaning Kodak cannot sue the label again for the same claims.

This isn’t Kodak Black’s first brush with a courtroom. He is currently battling sexual battery charges in South Carolina, and sued his baby mama, Jammiah Broomfield, for joint custody of their three-year-old son, King Khalid.
