Judge Slaps Restraining Order On Towanda Braxton And Estranged Hubby

Towanda Braxton Filed For Divorce Last Month After 12 Years With Hubby Andre Carter

A Georgia judge has ordered “Braxton Family Values” star Towanda Braxton and her soon to be ex Andre Carter to stay away from each other and has forced the former couple to take parenting classes.

A Gwinnett County Superior Court judge granted a mutual restraining order against the exes, and both reality stars are banned from harassing or intimidating each other or their two kids, according to Braxton’s divorce docs, which were obtained by BOSSIP.

Under the terms of the restraining order, neither Braxton nor Carter are allowed to take any property, or their two kids – Braxton and Brooke – out of Georgia, nor can they all of a sudden cancel the health or car insurance, or the family’s gas and electric utilities, now that the divorce is going forward.

The court also ruled that Carter and Braxton must also take a “parenting workshop” to help them counsel their kids as they deal with the fallout from the split.

If the pair violates the court orders, their judge could hold them in contempt.

Braxton filed for divorce Aug. 18, and the mom of two cited the reason for the divorce was because her marriage was “irretrievably broken,” and asked for primary custody of the kids. She also wants a judge to split their property and debts from the marriage right down the middle, and said she’d do her best to settle things with Carter out of court, according to her petition.

In her filing, Braxton said she and her estranged hubby have been separated for the last two years, even though they still live in the same house with son Braxton, 10, and daughter, Brooke, 9.

BOSSIP has also learned that Braxton filed for divorce in 2009, but a judge dismissed the case because she refused to go through with it. The couple has been married since 2004.

Braxton has previously said she and Carter enjoyed an open marriage, but wasn’t totally sure if her hubby was stepping out. Rumors have circulated that Braxton had an affair with Kordell Stewart from Real Housewives of Atlanta, but she has dismissed it as just gossip. And Carter has criticized “Braxton Family Values” as portraying him as being jobless, but not citing the reason why.

Carter has not yet responded to the filing, and Braxton hasn’t yet commented publicly on the divorce.
