We can all agree that suicide is no laughing matter, however people tend to forget just how many people are truly affected by it. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, it’s actually the 10th leading cause of death in the states, having 42,773 reported deaths per year. Inspired by Kehlani’s recent suicide survival, we’ve compiled a list of other celebs who’ve contemplated the tragic decision to take their lives.
Ronda Rousey
Former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey admitted she considered taking her life after a devastating loss to Holly Holm.
Oprah
Oprah has discussed her brush with suicide on record multiple times. She admitted that after an unexpected pregnancy she drank detergent to bring her life to an end. Fortunately the mogul was unsuccessful but she did lose the child shortly after giving birth. She described the ordeal as a “second chance”.
Cara Delevigne
The super model opened up about the anxiety and lack of control she felt over her career. She admitted to Vogue Magazine that she used to self harm and was “completely suicidal” at one point.
Caitlyn Jenner
In an interview at a conference for diversity, Caitlyn admitted that feelings of isolation led him to suicidal thoughts before he transitioned to Cait. The Olympian shared the thought that stopped him, “…what a terrible way to end my story”.
Kehlani
Just after being exposed her ex-boyfriend Party Next Door in a love triangle, Kehlani took to Instagram to share her near death experience. She opened up to her fans and haters about trying to take her life.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry admitted to suicidal thoughts following her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.
Tracy Morgan
Despite his tragic brush with death in 2014, the actor openly admitted that after brain trauma, broken bones, blindness and coma – he contemplated ending it all before realizing his work was not done here.
Pastor Eddie Long
After being publicly dragged for allegedly feeling up on teenaged boys, the pastor admitted he was ready to take his life until Jesus took the wheel.

This theatrical songstress has been a huge mental health advocate and has admittedly had ongoing battles with depression and anxiety. She recently opened up about her encounter with sexual abuse and implicated thoughts of suicide in songs such as “Princess Die”.

After learning that her brother Prince did not share the same biological father, Paris spiraled into depression and began self harming. Shortly after she attempted to overdose, however she was unsuccessful.
Halle Berry
Years ago, Halle detailed her suicide attempt by carbon monoxide on “Oprah,” after her first divorce.
Elton John
The legend Elton John has opened up about his heavy drug abuse and attempt to overdose before having kids. He even recounted the incident in his song, ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight‘.
Christ Bearer from Northstar
Do you remember the WuTang affiliated rapper Christ? Just a few years ago he attempted suicide by cutting off his penis and jumping from a building. After much recovery, Christ explained to TMZ that he was severely depressed due to lack of communication with his two daughters.
